The Soviet Union was a foundational state of multiple republics set up after the October Revolution of 1917 and the end of the Russian Civil War in 1923. It was a state set under Marxism which was later revolutionised to Leninist Communism and then Stalinism and back to Leninist Communism.

Marxism

Marxism is a form of Communism that believed in all people to be equal and the dissolution of a social hierarchy. Marxism was invented by Karl Marx after he did not believe in Capitalism and their ideals. He wrote a book called the Communist Manifesto which described his ideals of a classless society in which everyone shared things equally instead of privatised corporate entities owning most of the consumer goods and land.

Karl Marx’s form of Communism is a more extreme form of Socialism, an idea where all people are equal but not everything is shared, and that everything is owned by the people. His ideals are close to anarchist ideals in which they believe that all the people should run a country instead of a leader or council.

Marxism was the strongest form of communism yet it was never fully developed into a society. Many attempts to integrate Marxism were tried but failed due to other people’s ideas, such as Maoism (Chinese Communism).

Leninist Communism and Soviet Ideals

After the October Revolution of 1917 in the Russian Empire and St. Petersburg; Leninist Communism took hold of the CCCP republic. This idea believed in a more extreme version of Marxism and a ruler who would rule with an iron fist.

Leninist Communism is still around today in the Republic of Laos where the leader, Thongloun Sisoulith, still runs the country under his fist. Lenin developed this style of Communism after he believed Karl Marx was revolutionary and he took his ideas to his own hands.

After Lenin’s death, Communism in the USSR changed drastically with the rule of Joseph Stalin. This form of Soviet Communism believed in an extreme dictatorship.

The Soviet Union continued this form of communism until their dissolution in 1991. After this, extreme dictatorships of Communist nations were erased or defeated by internal revolution.

Communism is a great idea in theory but in practice, people take it too far and use their own ideals instead of the right ones.
